Les Cornas du Domaine
La Louvée

La Louvée - 2007

Vines and Cellar

Grape variety: Syrah, old vines of more than 70 years.
Teroir: Single vineyard site. Granitic arenas on the steep slopes of the right bank of the Rhône.

All work in the vineyard is entirely manual.

The grapes are vinified, after total de-stemming, in temperature controlled stainless steel vats with a 28 days maceration. The wine is raised 18 months in new oak barrels.

Tasting

Robe : A superb deep red.
Nose: Powerfull, rich, complex: black fruit, gunflint, liquorice, garrigue enhanced by a well mastered maturing in top quality oak.
Palate: Harmonious and elegant, "La Louvée" exhibits a phenominal concentration.

One can appreciate the balance between the body and the structure.

The long finish is enhanced by mature and silky tannins.

One may serve the wine in 2 or 3 years time and during the next 20 years.

Pairing
A Cornas which matches perfectly beef, black gamey meat, truffles and ceps.
Awards
"This is packed, with dark fig and raspberry ganache notes all richly layered with bittersweet cocoa, aged tobacco, loam and iron. The long, muscular finish will need time to stretch out. " - Wine Spectator, 94 points
