Gstronomy : La Louvée at Joël Robuchon’s.Antoine Hernandez, Director - Sommelier and partner of Joël Robuchon has highly enjoyed the Cornas La Louvée 2009 in l’Atelier de Joël Rochchon in Paris.
“It has been a long time since a Cornas impressed me as much as this one does for its balance, elegance, power and complexity. This wine has beautiful colour, a nice length, sweet tannins and..... I could go on and on. It is a wine with a strong personality (don’t forget: it is a Cornas!), all the elements are there to make it a wine for aging, but surprisingly the pleasure is immediate apparent. Without too much daring, we can say that this superb wine could perfectly couple with a wild hare or with a steak with wild mushrooms (boletus mushrooms).”

2009 in Cornas : little review on the vintage of the decade !After a very cold and dry winter followed by a wet spring, the vines started their vegetative cycle in very good condition. The summer was sunny and hot but with a light wind, perfect for an optimum maturation. September 1st: Harvest time came in Cornas! In the tanks, the wines already revealed all their power with delicate, fruity aromas, ending with great length on the palate.
After 20 months of ageing in oak barrels, this long awaited vintage will be for sure on the most famous lists of the best establishments! Even better, some wine lovers are already comparing it to the fantastic and unique 1990 ... Let's wait and taste! |

In the vineyard…Fall has gently and discreetly finished in Cornas resulting in certain freshness in the air. It is time to help the soil to replenish its organic reserves that the vineyard has used throughout the year. The vineyard team has to work the soil by adding composted cattle manure as well as shredded hardwood. During fall, the microbial life in the soil is very active and this allows organic matter to re-enter and offer up its minerals back to the earth. Next spring, these conditions will allow the living soil to retain water and nutrients. That is always the first priority at Colombo’s vineyards since the living soil is a guarantee of vineyard sustainability and therefore superior grape quality in years to come. |

Christmas Rosé !Mulled wine is certainly outdated; it’s time to try the Christmas Rosé! With its charming aromatic notes of strawberries, raspberries, spices and its beautiful light pink color, Cape Bleue Rosé perfectly conveys the spirit of the season. The Cape Bleue Rosé, is a tribute to the origin of Jean Luc Colombo coming from Marseille. It can be enjoyed on a sunny terrace facing the snowy mountains or during New Year’s Eve with a baked guinea fowl. Why not in Magnum or Jeroboam bottles to further communicate the festive spirit of the holiday season and the end of the year! |
