Building the blue coast vineyard


Early December 2009, the JLC crew started to rehabilitate an old parcel that is located on old restanques (local name of the terrace) that dates back from the 19th Century.  First we had to start cutting the pine trees that had taken over this parcels since they have been abandoned for over 50 years. Now, the next step is to start planting vineyards in the Spring.  Energized and motivated, the entire JLC crew was here working in this old parcel. These vineyards are located north of Marseille and the hillside vineyard faces south, which protects it from the mistral wind. The proximity of the Mediterranean sea bring nuances to this southern climate. This terroir will be ideal for white grapes such as vermentino, clairette but also syrah and mourvedre for the reds.  See you in 3 years for the first harvest !

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anne Colombo received the Legion d'Honneur


Anne Colombo Légion d'honneurOn December 11th 2009, Anne Colombo received the Legion d'Honneur from Madame Christine Lagarde, French Minister of Finance. Anne has been overviewing the vinifications since 2000 and she brings her personal touch to the wines of the estate. In the wine industry, it is the first time that a couple receives this award, after Jean-Luc receiving it in 2008. The ceremony was followed by a gala dinner at Marseille 3 stars Michelin Restaurant le petit Nice. Chef Gerald Passedat is the gifted Chef of this marvellou place facing the sea. Gastronomycornas les ruchets colombo

 

Cornas les ruchets 2001 seen by Mathieu Vial, wine waiter of famous restaurant Paul Bocuse (France), 3 stars Michelin since 1965.

Paul Bocuse restaurant's is located four kilometers north of Lyon on the banks of the Saône near the Pont de Collonges, this family house has become an obligatory stopping point for gourmets from every corner of the globe. www.bocuse.fr

 

Red wine of intense color.

It presents a very elegant nose, with lovely notes of black fruit, very concentrated ripe. Some smoky notes.

In mouth, it is  flexible with roundness and finesse, and it has a lovely creaminess to provide amplitude to the wine.

The finish is still on the same frame tannins but already somewhat rounded by years. This gives to the wine its power and left it its depth. You can keep it still few years in bottle.

 

Pairing:

Lièvre à la Royale (royal hare)

Long cooking (8 pm)

 

The preparation of this recipe requires more cooking 8:00. This provides to the hare a very tender texture, and a melting flesh. This alliance fits with the creaminess,  the suppleness of the Cornas wine.

The red wine sauce, very concentrated and spicy, requires a powerful wine, with full body and rich tannins. All these features are made by the Ruchets Cornas 2001 Domaine Jean-Luc Colombo.

 

 

Our wines in Paris and New York


In the fall of 2009, our wines were featured in Paris for "le Grand Tasting" event in the Louvres Museum and at the Wine Spectator Wine Experience.  The Cornas les Ruchets was selected among the 250 best wines in the world. Both events gave us the opportunity to show our best wines and confront them to some of the best crus of the World.
